Santoshi’s national record in the half marathon

Kathmandu, December 19

Various races including half marathon organized by Nepal Veterinary Association under the
slogan ‘Run for Protein’ have been completed.

In the women’s half marathon, Santoshi Shrestha of Bhaktapur set a new national record by completing the race in one hour 14 minutes and 14 seconds. In the men’s half marathon, Tirtha Pun of Baglung won the first place by completing the distance in one hour, three minutes and 45 seconds. In the 10 km open race, Mukesh Pal of Tribhuvan Army Club completed the race in 30 minutes and 59 seconds while Rajpura Pachai of Nepal Police Club completed the 5 km (women’ open) race in 22 minutes and 41 seconds.

In the five-kilometer men’s school, Prakash Kathayat finished first in 21 minutes, while in the three-kilometer women’s school, Bandana Budha finished first in 17 minutes and 31 seconds. Prem Bahadur BK bagged the first place in the wheelchair.

The winners of half marathon, 10 km open, 5 km women’s, 5 km men’s school students, 3 km women’s school students and first place in wheelchair category have received prizes of one lakh, fifty thousand, thirty thousand and twenty thousand rupees respectively. In addition to the total tax, cash prizes, medal trophies and certificates worth Rs A total of 2,100 athletes competed in seven different disciplines, including a half marathon.
