Gagan Thapa has won the post of General Secretary of Nepali Congress. Thapa
has won the election held on Sunday for the election of the new working
committee of the Nepali Congress. His victory was confirmed when 3867 ballot
papers were counted while the counting was going on.
Thapa got 2518 votes while Bishwa Prakash Sharma got 1590 votes. Similarly, Dr.
Prakash Sharan Mahat, who is in the third position, got only 1296 votes. With
4679 votes cast in the Congress election, now that all the votes are in opposition,
no one can stop Gagan from winning.
