Kathmandu, December 16
Chief opponent of the main opposition CPN-UML, Vishal Bhattarai, has said that they are not in favor of
passing the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement on US assistance in the status quo.
He said that he would wait for the unified view of the ruling coalition first and then the UML would take
its decision. However, he acknowledged that their numbers were not enough to defeat MCC.
"We are not in favor of passing the MCC in the status quo," UML chief of opponent Bhattarai told online
news. He urged the ruling coalition to decide on the issue of passing or failing the MCC or passing it only
by making amendments.
‘Let there be a unified view of the ruling coalition first. What is their unified view? That is not
understood. What do we have in common if it looks like a pass-through alliance? 'He said.
Chief Whip Bhattarai adds, "They have 165 MPs. We'll see if they can put 165 together. Then UML will
take its step. '
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had the support of 165 lawmakers in a five-party alliance. The UML
is interested in whether the government can take a decision by keeping the same 165 MPs in the MCC.
Meanwhile, UML leader Bhim Rawal questioned the legitimacy of his party's obstruction in the
parliament. Have suspected that.
