General Secretary’s vote count: Gagan and Bishwa prakash in the lead

Kathmandu, December 16

Gagan Thapa, a candidate from the Shekhar Koirala faction, has maintained his lead in the election for
the post of General Secretary of the Nepali Congress. Bishwaprakash Sharma of Prakash Man Singh
Group is in the second place.
Sharma, who is in the second position, has widened the gap with Prakash Sharan Mahat and Pradip
Poudel, candidates of the Sher Bahadur Deuba group, who are in the third and fourth positions.
Gagan Thapa, who was nominated by the Shekhar Koirala panel for the post of General Secretary, is
leading while Minendra Rijal, another candidate of the same panel, is in the fifth position.

When 2130 votes were counted, Gagan Thapa got the highest number of 1385 votes. Bishwaprakash
Sharma got 851 votes. Prakash Sharan Mahat got 698 votes, Pradip Poudel got 621 votes and Minendra
Rijal got 365 votes.

Vimalendra Nidhi's group candidate Dr Rajaram Karki got only 59 votes.

The first and second runners-up will be elected for the post of General Secretary.
