Kathmandu: Nepali Congress candidate Prakash Man Singh has supported Sher Bahadur Deuba. Singh said that he supported Deuba as the Nepali Congress cadres around the country in favor of Deuba. After Deuba went to his private residence in Chaksibari and asked for support, Singh promised to help.
Re-polling is going to be held as none of the candidates for the post of the President could get 51 percent of the total votes cast. Deuba got 48.23 percent, Koirala 36.93 percent, Singh 7.92 percent, Nidhi 5.31 percent and Gurung 0.04 per cent votes. According to the committee, Deuba, who got the highest number of votes, did not get 81 votes to win. Sher Bahadur Deuba’s victory will be certain if Prakashman Singh support to him. In re-polling, the candidate who gets the most votes will win.
The Election Committee has made public the schedule of the second phase of the election as per the provision of re-polling after no candidate could get 50 percent of the votes in the first election. According to the schedule, the election will start at 3:30 pm on Tuesday. The election will be held till 7:30 pm, according to the committee.
