The government has set a date for the National Assembly

The government has fixed Magh 12 for the National Assembly elections. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday has fixed the election date for the next Magh 12. Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Uma Regmi said that the date for holding elections for the 19 vacant posts in the National Assembly has been fixed on Magh 12.

The post of 20 members of the National Assembly will be vacant from Falgun 20. One of them is nominated by the President and 19 will come from the election. She said that the government has requested the commission to move ahead with the preparations by fixing the date of the election as per the proposal of the commission.

The constitution stipulates that elections must be held 35 days before the end of the term of a member of the National Assembly.
