Teacher Service Commission regulations are amended

The government has moved ahead with the process of amending the regulations of the Teacher Service Commission to remove the procedural hurdles seen in the recruitment of community school teachers and study permits.

According to Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel, a proposal to amend the rules has been sent to the concerned committee for further consultation. Due to the lack of amendment in the regulations, open advertisement for teacher selection, internal promotion and teaching license examination were stopped.

The Education and Human Resource Development Centre has sent a report to the Commission stating that there are 17,047 vacancies in community schools across the country. There are 12 thousand 912 vacancies at primary level, two thousand 593 vacancies at lower secondary level and one thousand 542 vacancies at secondary level.
