Nepali Congress General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala has said that he will not step down from the post of president. Talking to reporters here today, he said that he would be the party’s presidential candidate in the 14thgeneral convention.
He said, “No, I’m not backing down. I’m just trying to get up.” Koirala said that he would not back down from the party’s presidential candidate saying that a common candidate from the establishment would be formed in due course.
He said that there was an obligation to amend the schedule during the Congress session in the districts and informed that the active membership dispute was still going in 21-22 districts and the schedule was amended to settle the dispute. He informed that the final decision of the activists will be taken soon.
In different context, Koirala said that the communists are of an arrogant nature, as exemplified by the incident in Parliament yesterday. Despite protesting against the religion of the opposition, he said that yesterday’s incident had tarnished the image of the parliament and he said, “Communist parties are running with a chaotic character.”
