US troops withdraw from Afghanistan

The US military has withdrawn its troops from Afghanistan after nearly 20 years. After a long 20-yeae occupation, all US troops have returned to their home countries.

This day is being celebrated by the Taliban by firing guns in various places. The United States has deployed troops to Afghanistan since Al-Qaeda attacked the US Twin Towers 20 years ago.

While the US military was in Afghanistan, the people there felt safe and engaged in anti-Taliban activities.

Fighting between the US military and the Taliban has killed 2,400 US troops. As the US military returns home, the Taliban have seized control of the capital, Kabul.

To date, the US military plans to rescue more than 100,000 people from Afghanistan. Thousands of people are still waiting at Kabul airport to be rescued.

A suicide bomber has exploded at the airport. The blast killed at least 170 people. In retaliation, US drone strikes killed people in both attacks. But both attacks did not intimidate those seeking to leave Afghanistan.
