The Concern and Coordination Committee under the National Assembly of Nepal has directed the government to ensure the source of budget for the project of national pride. The meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday directed to ensure the source of budget of the project of national pride and bring clear criteria for the operation of the procedure, wrote Nagarik Online. The committee had discussed about the damage caused by floods and landslides in connection with the Melamchi Drinking Water Project. After the discussion, the committee has assessed the damage caused by floods and landslides in the project and directed to start the reconstruction immediately. The Government of Nepal has been instructed to ensure the budget for the completion of the remaining works of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project. Similarly, the committee has directed for effective cooperation and coordination among the bodies directly related to the project.
“Even now, the government has said that there is no shortage of budget for national pride projects due to lack of budget resources and clear criteria for operation of national pride projects,” he said. As this kind of problem has arisen during the implementation, we have instructed the government to ensure the budget of the projects of national pride and clear criteria of the operation of the working procedure.”
The committee has directed the Ministry of Drinking Water to manage the structural problems between the Project Implementation Directorate and Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Project. The committee had discussions with the officials of the Ministry of Urban Development, Melamchi Drinking Water Project, Kathmandu Project Drinking Water Limited and the Sanitation and Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
