Finance Minister’s commitment to ‘Make in Nepal-Swadeshi’ campaign

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has said that the government will strongly support implementation of the ‘Make in Nepal-Swadeshi’ campaign launched by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries for building a self-reliant economy. In a meeting with delegation of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), Sharma said that his priority was to build a self-reliant economy, adding that he would be with the private sector in the campaign, Online News has written.

“As soon as I became the minister, I looked at the statistics and saw that our imports were high, exports were weak and foreign exchange reserves were low,” Sharma said. It is now necessary to change this situation. For that, the government and the private sector must work together to increase production in Nepal and reduce imports.’

Finance Minister Sharma said that he would always move forward with the private sector for economic development, job creation and building a self-reliant economy. He said that he is always ready to assist the private sector in creating an industrial environment. Stating that he would move forward with constructive suggestions and advice from the private sector, Minister Sharma said that the government needed the support of the private sector to move forward while minimizing the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on the economy. He said that creating investment environment with good industrial relations is his priority.
