Repeal of the ordinance regarding the Constitutional Council

The ordinance regarding the Constitutional Council has been repealed. On the recommendation of the government, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has repealed the ordinance related to the Constitutional Council.

According to Keshav Prasad Ghimire, Assistant Spokesperson of the President’s Office, the ordinance has been repealed as per the recommendation made by the Council of Ministers on Shrawan 2.

Earlier, there was widespread opposition to the ordinance which was issued during the Oli-led government.

After the repeal of the ordinance, the confusion has arisen as to what will happen to the constitutional appointments made on the basis of this ordinance.

A case is pending in the Supreme Court against the appointments made on the basis of the same ordinance.
