Supreme Court orders Deuba to become Prime Minister within two days

The Supreme Court has issued an order to re-establish the House of Representatives and make Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba the Prime Minister within two days.

The Constitutional Bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabara and Justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Mira Khadka, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai delivered the verdict today. The court has also asked to convene a meeting of the House of Representatives on Shrawan 3. The full text of the verdict is yer to come.

The petition sought to dissolve the House of Representatives on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on Jesth 8 and declare the mid-term elections on Kartik 13 and Mangsir 3 unconstitutional and illegal.
