Adventure rafting, which has been in operation in Mahakali since last year, has become the choice of the youth. The youths have been rafting from Musetti to Khalla of Bhimdatta Municipality-9.
The number of young people going rafting to escape the heat of the Terai and have fun is on the rise. The Indian side was rafting on the Mahakali River alone. The Bhimadatta Municipality has tested rafting on the occasion of Water Day in Falgun last year.
After that, two to three days a week, the youth team arrives for rafting. “Earlier, the Indian side did not allow to go the river,” said a local, “Now the operation of rafting on the river has started smoothly. The Indians have stooped interfering.”
After the trail, preparations have been made to complete the legal process on the bilateral border river and operate it commercially. “We have trained some youths from Khalla, Tundikhel and Musetti for rafting.” Chief of Bhimdatta Municipality Surendra Bista said, “We are planning to make the trained youth professional.” According to the multi-purpose policy of the Mahakali River, a plan has been put forward to start an adventurous water voyage.
