Gangtok, June 25: A review meeting on the progress of activities under the Rural Development Department was chaired by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang at Samman Bhawan, Gangtok, today.
The meeting was attended by Minister, Rural Development Department, Sonam Lama, Principal Secretary, RDD, CS Rao, Commissioner Dr. P. Senthil Kumar, Pr. Chief Engineer Shri L. D. Lamtha, Special Secretary Smt Sarika Pradhan, Director Accounts, Raj Narayan Pradhan, Chief Engineer Sanjeev Rai and Director, Panchayat Prabhakar Rai.
Minister, RDD, Sonam Lama briefed the Chief Minister on the major activities undertaken by the department.
Principal Secretary, RDD, CS Rao presented the progress of activities under various schemes under the department through a powerpoint discussion and all other officials participated in the discussion on the progress of activities. The programs reviewed in the meetings are Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY), Jal Jeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Various state plan programs, Rurban Mission, Mahatma Gandhi-NREGA, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY) Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Grameen (PMAY-G)., etc.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister gave attention to finer details of the programs, appreciated the progress in various activities and gave directions to improve the performance in all schemes. He conveyed that the rural people shall be given attention in fulfilling their aspiration through the officials of rural development department and assured all support for the department to enable its better performance mentioned in press note of Rural Development Department,GoS.
