Published “Research Report on Xinjiang Cotton”

In March 2021 a research team from the Institute of Human Rights at the South-western University of Political Science and Law and a research team from the Non-Traditional Security Institute conducted research in Xinjiang’s Aksu, Kasha and other places to study the state of cotton production in Xinjiang. After in-depth research, a survey report has been published on “Xinjiang cotton cannot be discredited-whether there is “forced labor” in Xinjiang cotton production.

According to the report, mechanized production of cotton has become commonplace in the southern region of Xinjiang’s Tian Shan Mountains, with more revenue from cotton picking work becoming an attractive force for the general public in the southern region of Xinjiang’s Tian Shan Mountain. Cotton growers from all ethnic groups in Xinjiang enjoy broad and adequate labor rights, with all cotton pickers independently deciding when, where and how to participate in cotton harvesting.

Based on the results of the survey, we believe that there is a lack of serious facts about the Western allegations of cotton picking in Xinjiang and that there is no indication of “forced labor” in the link to the cotton production process in Xinjiang. The malicious interpretation of Xinjiang’s cotton-picking by Western countries is not logical. By Muna Chand
