Floods and landslides in Indravati, Sunkoshi, Bramhayani and other rivers of Sindhupalchok have caused great loss of life and property

According to the locals, the floods and landslides in Indravati, Sunkoshi, Bramhayani rivers of Sindhupalchok have caused great loss of life and property.

Arjun Bhandari, a local of Helambu informed that the people have lost contact with the bus park at Timbu Bazaar of Helambu village, surrounding settlement s, Melamchi drinking water source area and the coastal areas below it. According to the District Police Office Sindhupalchok, the exact number of casualties has not been ascertained as the work started at around 7 pm and the security personnel were identified.

With the onset of monsoon this time, floods and landslides have started from unimaginable areas of the district. According to locals the landslides and floods that started from Helambu have washed away agricultural farms including fish in the riparian areas and people of various settlements have not been able to come in contact due to the impact of the floods.

As soon as it was light, Nepal Army, Armed Forces, Nepal Police and locals are around the site for rescue and research. According to local Shiva Dulal, houses in Timbu Bazaar have been flowed away, while houses near the rivers of big market including Chanaute and Melamchi have been flooded up to 2 storeys river and clay and some people are seeking rescue from the roof of the local Rose Hotel. Dulal also informed that the traffic was halted after the concrete bridges of Melamchi and Indravati B were washed away.
