The issues related to the dissolution of the House of Representatives will be heard on Wednesday

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the case related to the dissolution of the Constitutional House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The hearing was adjourned on Monday after Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabara was diagnosed with health problems. There is a constitutional session chaired by the Chief Justice. A constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Rana, Senior Justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Mira Khadka, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai was constituted on Sunday and the hearing was adjourned till Monday. Supreme Court spokesperson Devendra Dhakal said that the hearing was scheduled for Wednesday due to health problems of Chief Justice Rana.

After the dispute over the composition of the bench, the hearing has not started yet. There have been 30 writ petitions in the dispute. The petition seeks the dissolve the House of Representatives on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on May 22 and declare unconstitutional and illegal by overturning the President’s decision of May 22 to hold mid-term elections on November 8 and 19.
