Opposition coalition calls for united and strong voice in favour of Nepal’s constitution and democracy

The Opposition Coalition has called on the leaders and cadres of all the political parties and the people to raise a strong voice in solidarity in favour of the constitution and democracy of Nepal and to move forward with determination.

A meeting of the top leaders of the opposition parties held at the residence of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha today has urged all the system of the state not to cooperate in unconstitutional and undemocratic activities.

In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the condition said that it had duly demanded the re-establishment of the House of Representatives and signing of 149 members of the House of Representatives as an alternative prime minister.

The statement was signed by NC President Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav and Rastriya Janamorcha’s Durga Poudel.

Expressing anger over the budget ordinance to be tabled in the federal parliament, the statement also accused the country of violating the constitution one after another while the country was being attacked by the corona epidemic.

In a country with constitutional supremacy, the rule of law and an independent judiciary, the coalition has expressed confidence that justice will be served by the Supreme Court with the protection oof the constitutional order.
