Former Zimbabwean President Mugabe buried at rural home

Former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, who died in Singapore on Sept. 6, was on Saturday buried at his rural home in Zvimba, Mashonaland West Province.
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa did not attend the burial of his predecessor.

Government representation came from the Mashonaland West Minister for Provincial Affairs Mary Mliswa-Chikoka.

It is understood Mugabe had expressed his wish to be buried at his home village.

However, the government had persuaded the family to have him buried at the National Heroes Acre in capital Harare.

The family agreed to have him interred at the national shrine and a mausoleum was being built for him there.
