Will Smith’s collaborations with filmmaker Jerry Bruckheimer may continue long into the future. He celebrated his 51st birthday with the prolific film producer in Budapest, Hungary on Wednesday at a special screening of their new film, “Gemini Man.”
The movie sees Smith play a hitman who is forced to do battle with a clone of himself as a younger man, aged 23.
The younger version of Smith is “100 percent” digitally generated, explained Smith.
“It’s not my face de-aged. From scratch the digital team created an avatar,” he said. “That is the 23-year-old, 100 percent digital character. So, I essentially voiced the character. I didn’t necessarily play the character. So, it’s not my body doing the moves and things like that.”
The film is directed by Academy Award-winner Ang Lee. Lee said “It’s just a long journey of discovering what digital cinema can provide to us. It’s very exciting.”
“Gemini Man” will be released in China on October 18.
