Pitt plays a stuntman and all-around go-fer who works for and is casual friends with DiCaprio’s character, a fading star who is looking for a new path in Hollywood in 1969.
“I think we both implicitly, having sort of grown up in Los Angeles, knew this kind of relationship dynamic of somebody working for you but also them slowly becoming your family and your therapist and everything,” he said. “Because it’s a kind of isolating town, and these guys are on the outskirts of it looking at a time and a culture that has passed them by and they kind of only have each other”.

Margot Robbie plays actress Sharon Tate, a character who also represents a new Hollywood ethos.
“She represented the good parts and the innocence of that time,” she said. “And like, the best of what 1969 had to offer you kind of experience through Sharon.”
“Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” opens in U.S. theatres on Friday (26 JULY).
