A driving school located on the roof of a seven-story building in Wuhan was shut down by several government departments on Monday.

An investigation by the local government found that the school had not registered with local authorities. An employee with the district housing management department said that the change in land use at the site was not reported to the department and was therefore illegal.

When local authorities arrived for a site inspect, they found that the school’s vehicles were gone and no relevant representatives of the business were on-site. The building’s property management has demanded that the driving school return the rooftop to its original condition, otherwise it will be penalized.

The driving school was reportedly shut down in June last year, but it reopened a month later.
