US President Donald Trump has directed government prosecutors to investigate billionaire Democratic donor George Soros, the main investor in the Open Society Foundation.
Soros is the key financier of Open Society, which funds various organizations operating in Nepal. Trump accuses the foundation of inciting unrest and spreading terror. He has repeatedly said Soros should be jailed.

According to US media reports, following Trump’s directive, a senior Justice Department official instructed more than half a dozen US attorney offices to investigate Soros. Prosecutors are said to be working on possible charges.
Open Society, backed by Soros, funds democratic initiatives around the world and supports human rights and equality efforts. But Trump and several Republicans accuse Soros of fueling unrest and violence.
Soros is also controversial in India. Zee News, an Indian TV channel, has labeled him as anti-India and notorious. Reports claim organizations linked to him spread propaganda about Kashmir.
He has also been accused of funding groups involved in violence and arson incidents in California. PR
