Kathmandu: Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki, upon assuming office, made it clear that she had not come to enjoy power or position, declaring that she would not remain in office for more than six months. While taking charge at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Sunday, she announced that those who lost their lives during the movement would be declared martyrs, their families would receive 1 million rupees each, expenses during their stay in Kathmandu would be covered, and arrangements would be made to return the bodies to their hometowns.
Karki stated that the movement was part of a planned conspiracy and pledged to investigate and take action against those responsible. She emphasized that attacks on sensitive institutions such as the security forces, the Supreme Court, and Singha Durbar were not ordinary incidents. “More than physical destruction, the loss of records and evidence is a major problem,” she said.

Pledging to address the Gen-Z movement’s demands for good governance, an end to corruption, and equality, Karki stressed the need for national unity. She also assured that damages suffered by the private sector, businesses, and industries would be assessed and compensated. According to her, the challenges brought by the movement can only be resolved through collective national effort.
