Kathmandu : The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu marked the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Chancery on Wednesday. Ambassador Abrar H. Hashmi unfurled the national flag, attended by the Pakistani community, Nepali friends, and Embassy officials with their families. This year’s celebrations carried the added zeal of the recent “Marka-e-Haq” victory.

In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari said Independence Day was a reminder of the courage, unity, and sacrifices that led to Pakistan’s creation, paying homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the Pakistan Movement workers. Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif highlighted the nation’s resilience over the past 78 years, noting achievements across economy, sports, defence, and technology despite many challenges.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar lauded Pakistan’s military and diplomatic success in “Marka-e-Haq,” reaffirming unwavering support for the Kashmir cause and vowing to safeguard sovereignty while promoting global peace.
Ambassador Hashmi paid tribute to the historic struggle of 1947, commended the armed forces’ role in repelling Indian aggression, and pledged Pakistan’s unity and progress. The event concluded with prayers for martyrs who sacrificed their lives to preserve “Azadi.”

In his message, H.E. Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, said that Independence Day is a reminder of the courage, unity, and sacrifices that led to the creation of Pakistan. Today, the entire nation pays homage to our founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and the workers of the Pakistan Movement for their struggle and sacrifices.
In his message, Prime Minister of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the past 78 years tell a tale of resilience, strong faith and a hope of a bright future when as a nation, the countrymen braved several difficult challenges. Despite this, Pakistan achieved a series of milestones of success and achievements in every field. From economy to sports and defence to information technology, Pakistanis with their unparalleled determination and courage have written exemplary chapters of knowledge and skills.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, in his message said “Today, we also celebrate the triumph of Marka-e-Haq, where Pakistan excelled on both military and diplomatic fronts. Our principled and robust response to India’s unlawful actions secured a moral and political victory, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to protect our security. Through military preparedness, diplomatic finesse, and national unity, we have demonstrated our resolve to safeguard sovereignty while upholding global peace. The Kashmir cause remains just, the rights of the Kashmiri people inalienable, and Pakistan’s support for their struggle unshakable until justice prevails”.
Speaking at ceremony H.E. Mr. Abrar H Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan paid tribute to the historic struggle of 1947 and the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers. He specifically praised the role of leadership and the Armed Forces of Pakistan in thwarting Indian aggression in the recent Marka-e-Haq. The Ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, progress and that nation will stand together in the face of any challenge. While celebrating the victory in “Marka-e-Haq”, a solemn prayer was also offered for the martyrs who laid lives in the struggle leading to preservation of ‘Azadi”.
