President observes Bhagawati chariot procession

Lumbini, Aug 27:

President Ramchandra Paudel observed the 205th edition of the historic Ranaujireshwori Bhagawati chariot procession in Tansen, Palpa today.
The Head of the State is accompanied by First Lady Sabita Paudel. This is the first time that he has reached Tansen to grace the Bhagawati chariot procession as the Head of the State.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey and Defence Minister Manbir Rai also reached Palpa to participate in the chariot procession.
Along with observing the Bhagawati chariot procession, the President also performed puja and paid homage at the Ranaujireshwori Bhagawati Temple.
After this, President Paudel visited the Nepali Army’s ‘The Famous Mahindra Dal Battalion’. He also met with the concerned officials including the elected people’s representatives in Palpa, said Kiran Pokharel, the President’s press advisor.
The Head of State has wished for the happiness, peace and well-being of all the Nepalis on the occasion of the Ranaujireshwori Bhagawati chariot procession.
On the occasion, the President called attention of the bodies concerned to implement the recommendation of the Department of Archaeology regarding construction of the Ranaujireshwori Bhagawati Temple in accordance with its original architectural style.
Likewise, he drew the government’s attention to give concrete shape to the aspirations and initiatives to develop the entire Palpa Palace including the museum built there into a touristic site and have it enlisted in the list of World Heritage Sites.
President Paudel also on the occasion expressed the belief that the government’s preparation to declare the Ranaujireshwori Bhagawati chariot procession as a national festival by a province level decision would be fulfilled soon, the President’s Press Advisor said.
