Hearing process of proposed 17 ambassadors begins

Kathmandu, Aug 13:

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHS) has started hearing process of proposed ambassadors for 17 countries.

A meeting of the PHC held today under chairmanship of senior most member of the Committee, Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana, decided to issue a public notice for filing complaints, if any, against the proposed ambassadors within 10 days.

The government had on July 29 recommended the names of Dr Shankar Sharma (India), Prof Dr Krishna Prasad Oli (China), Lok Darsahan Regmi (USA), Chandra Kumar Ghimire (UK), Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe (South Korea), Prof Dhan Prasad Pandit (Israel), Ram Krishna Bhattarai (Sri Lanka) and Rita Dhital (Pakistan) for appointment to the post of ambassadors.

Similarly, Naresh Bikram Dhakal (Saudi Arabia), Prof Dr Kapil Man Shrestha (South Africa), Sanil Nepal (Spain), Dr Shaila Rupakheti (Germany), Junga Bahadur Chauhan (Russia), Ramesh Chandra Poudel (Qatar), Sumnima Tuladhar (Denmark), Dr Netra Prasad Timilsina (Malaysia) and Prakash Mani Pokharel (Portugal) were also recommended.

As per the Article 292 of the constitution, there is a provision of conducting parliamentary hearing of those recommended for ambassadors.
