Lawmaker Thapa stresses on ensuring rights of oppressed communities

Kathmandu, Aug 13:

Nepali Congress lawmaker Gagan Kumar Thapa has laid emphasis on the need of ensuring the rights of women, indigenous nationalities, Dalits, Madhesi and oppressed communities.

In a special hour of today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Thapa mentioned that federalism should be further strengthened and made prosperous by institutionalizing the rights of these communities.

Stressing on the need of making federalism and proportional election system more inclusive, he underlined that no one should lag behind. The lawmaker demanded action against those involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam and cooperative fraud, adding government’s good activities would be praised while wrong doings would be criticized.

Thapa asked the government to resolve the problems of cooperative fraud, chemical fertilizer and dairy farmers as soon as possible. He demanded that all files related to irregularities should be opened and investigation carried out against the guilty.
