Kathmandu, Jan 4:
External Affairs Minister of India Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) in Singha Durbar today.
During the meeting, they held discussions on various topics related to bilateral collaboration and mutual interest, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat said.
On the occasion, PM Dahal expressed the confidence that the 7th meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Commission today will be fruitful in bringing into implementation the agreements signed especially during Prime Minister Dahal’s latest visit to India, said Rupak Sapkota, the foreign affairs advisor to the Prime Minister.
The PM urged the Indian External Affairs Minister to hold the necessary discussions in the Joint Commission meeting today and move ahead towards the prompt implementation of the agreements on power trade, connectivity, among other topics, that were discussed and reached during his visit to India last June.
Stating that the agreement on electricity trade reached with India will prove to be a milestone for Nepal and India both as well as for power trade between Nepal and Bangladesh, PM stressed on moving ahead this agreement in a smooth manner through mutual understanding.
The External Affairs Minister of India arrived here today on a two-day visit in connection with attending the Nepal-India Joint Commission’s seventh meeting.
He paid a courtesy call on President Ramchandra Paudel also before this today.
