Janamat party Chair Raut taken into custody and released

Kathmandu, Jan 1:

Janamat Party president CK Raut and party leader and Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration Anita Devi and other leaders and cadres of the party were who detained by the Nepal Police for stating a protest in the restricted zone. They were however released after some time.

The police detained 63 members of the party including its President and MP Raut. As the protest rally marched from New Baneshwar to Maitighar, they were detained by the police for entering a prohibited zone and detained at the Nepal Police Club.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha personally went to the club and ordered the release of Raut, Minister Anita Devi and all those who were taken into custody, shared Kamal Giri, the press coordinator of Home Minister Shrestha.

Spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Senior Superintendent of Police, Dineshraj Mainali, said that they were detained by the Kathmandu Police Range as they had staged the demonstration in the prohibited area.
