Gangtok, 7 Nov:
Chief Minister  Prem Singh Tamang has shared that the State Government’s flagship programme ‘Mero Rukh Mero Santati’ (MRMS), has been chosen to showcase India’s global climate leadership on the international stage. This groundbreaking initiative, which has already garnered significant recognition within the nation, is now gearing up to leave its mark at COP28, set to take place in Dubai.
The Chief Minister has extended his congratulations to the Forest and Environment Department and all concerned line departments for the execution of the remarkable project and to the people of Sikkim for their support towards the scheme.
MRMS represents a distinctive and symbolic undertaking, involving the planting of 108 trees for each newborn in Sikkim. This endeavour encapsulates the concept of harmony with nature, drawing inspiration from India’s profound spiritual heritage, and fostering a deep connection with nature especially in the face of environmental challenges.
