UN Secretary-General calls on PM Dahal 

Kathmandu, Oct 29:

Visiting United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. Prior to the meeting, Chief Secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal and Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal welcomed the UN Secretary-General to the Singha Durbar-based Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Before this, the UN Secretary-General held a separate meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Purna Bahadur Khadka and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Prakash Saud. The Foreign Minister welcomed the UN-Secretary General who arrived here this morning on his four-day official visit to Nepal at the VVIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The UN Secretary-General is scheduled to call on President Ramchandra Paudel, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli today, itself.

Likewise, he will be visiting the Lalitpur-based Patan Durbar Square today.

 

UN Secretary-General to address Federal Parliament’s joint session on Oct 31

Kathmandu, Oct 29:

Visiting United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is set to address a joint session of the Federal Parliament at 4:00 pm on the coming Tuesday.

House of Representatives (HoR) Speaker Devraj Ghimire made this announcement in the today’s session of the lower house. The Speaker urged lawmakers to be present for the meeting on October 31 by 3:45 pm, adhering to a formal dress code.

Meanwhile, in the meeting, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dhanraj Gurung, on behalf of the Finance Minister, presented the’ Banking Offence and Punishment(second amendment) Bill 2080′ and ‘Customs Bill,2080’.

The next session of the lower house shall take place on November 2, Thursday.
