Government decides to keep plane on stand-by to bring bodies of Nepali killed in Israel

The government has decided to keep a plane on ready position and establish coordination with the Israeli side to repatriate home the bodies of Nepali nationals killed in the ongoing conflict in Israel.

A meeting today of the Coordination Mechanism headed by Minister for Foreign Affairs NP Saud took a decision to this effect. The government on Sunday formed the Mechanism to take the required decision in the aftermath of the ongoing conflict in Israel and the Nepali nationals affected due to this.

The meeting also decided to find out way to relocate the Nepali citizens in Israel to safe areas.

The Mechanism is tasked with figuring out the condition of Nepali citizens, taking the required decision in case rescue has to be carried out, establishing coordination and providing assistance etc after carrying out regular monitoring and overall assessment of the situation in Israel.

 

NA Chair Timilsina calls for immediately rescuing Nepalis from Israel

Kathmandu, Oct 9: Chairman of the National Assembly (NA), Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has expressed sorrow over the death of 10 Nepali students due to the attack by Palestinian militant group, Hamas, in Israel.

In a condolence message, the Chair of the Upper House of Federal Parliament said that he was stunned by the news of the death of the students. He has also urged the government to immediately rescue the others Nepalis who want to return to Nepal.

“Wishing for the quick recovery of health to those injured in the attack, I make a special request to the Government of Nepal to make all arrangements for rescue, relief and prompt return of those who want to come back to Nepal,” the NA Chair said.

NA Chair Timilsina has paid heartfelt tribute to those who passed away in the attack and deep condolences to the members of the bereaved families at this hour of grief.

 

Israel-Hamas war: PM summons special meeting of Council of Ministers for 4:00 pm

Kathmandu, Oct 9: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has summoned a special meeting of the Council of Minister for 4:00 pm today over the latest developments in Israel and the situation of the Nepali community there.

The meeting aims to assess the situations in the aftermath of an unprecedented assault in Israel and the subsequent developments, evaluate the situation of the Nepali community in Israel, diplomatic efforts that the government is expected to take to ensure their safe arrival and other technical managerial issues, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Likewise, the Prime Minister has called an all-party meeting at 5:00 pm today over the same matter.

The crisis due to Israel-Hamas war after the surprise attack on Israel reportedly by the Hamas, an Islamist militant group on Saturday morning, has been the concern for Nepal.

The government on Sunday formed the mechanism which has been assigned to comprehensively monitor the situation, evaluate the developments and assess the situation of the Nepali community in Israel and to undertake decisions if rescue is required and coordinate any related efforts.

An emergency meeting summoned by the Prime Minister on Sunday in presence of the deputy prime minister and minister for defence, deputy prime minister and the minister for home, foreign minister, minister for education, science and technology, national security advisor, foreign secretary and the chiefs of security bodies formed a Rapid Action Team comprising the foreign minister, representatives from the education ministry, security bodies and Nepal’s diplomatic missions.

The Nepali Embassy in Israel earlier confirmed the deaths of 10 Nepali students in the Israel unrest and Israel has formally announced a war against the militant group, Hamas.

Israel unrest: mechanism meeting underway

Kathmandu, Oct 9: A meeting of a coordination mechanism formed under the convenorship of Foreign Minister NP Saud to take necessary decisions regarding those Nepali citizens affected by the ongoing violence in Israel is taking place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The government on Sunday formed the mechanism which has been assigned to comprehensively monitor the situation, assess the developments and evaluate the situation of the Nepali community in Israel and to undertake decisions if rescue is required and coordinate any related efforts.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Israel, 10 people – most from Sudurpaschim were killed in the recent lethal attack in Israel.

 

HoR member Ale expresses grief over Israel incident

Kathmandu, Oct 9: House of Representatives (HoR) member from Doti, Prem Bahadur Ale has expressed grief over the death of Sudurpaschim University students in lethal attack in Israel.

Issuing a press release today, Ale, also the former minister, said he was shocked to know the tragic death of Nepali students who reached there for studying agriculture from the University in the terrorist attack.

He extended tribute to those killed in the incident and condoled the bereaved families.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Israel, some 10 people – most from Sudurpaschim with Rajan Fulara and Padma Thapa from Doti were killed in the incident.

HoR member Ale urged the Nepal government to provide necessary compensation to the families of the deceased and search for the Nepali nationals missing in Israel and ensure security arrangement for all Nepali people living there.
