Province Assembly meeting of Koshi Province postponed

Morang, Aug 23 :

The third session of Province Assembly of Koshi Province has been postponed until further notice.

Parliamentarians of major opposition party CPN (UML) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) stood up in a gesture of protest while Israial Mansuri, who is in the Speaker’s role at present, was conducting the meeting of the Province Assembly.

The agenda for today’s meeting was to deliberate on various Bills such as Bill to Amend the Province Civil Service Act-2079 BS according to the Rule no 92 of the Province Assembly Regulations-2074 BS (including the First Amendment), Bill to make provisions regarding the formation, operation and conditions of service of local service’.

The meeting called for 1:00 pm today had started a bit late than the schedule and was adjourned after the protest from the opposition parties’ parliamentarians.

The UML and RPP have been protesting claiming that the process in which Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Uddhav Thapa, obtained the vote of confidence on August 21 is unconstitutional.
