Federal Civil Service Bill within a week: DPM Khadka

Kathmandu, Aug 16:

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Purna Bahadur Khadka, has said the Federal Civil Service Bill will be presented in the House within a week.

In his address to a programme organised by the Nepal Civil Service Employees Union here today, the Minister said the bill would be introduced during the current session of the parliament.

“The bill will be introduced in the House soon. Efforts have been made to make the document more progressive than in the past,” he said.

It may be noted that the delay in enacting the Act has drawn criticism, as eight years have passed since the Constitution was promulgated.

Stating that an action plan aiming to address procrastination in decision-making in terms of promoting good governance had been currently in progress, the Minister said the issues of development and prosperity had been on the backburner due to lack of capital expenditures as per the target.

He was of the opinion that citizens-centered service delivery would not only enhance the competency of leadership, but also contribute to strengthen the role of organisation.

Union Chair Gopal Prasad Pokhrel accused high-ranking administrators within the civil service of prioritizing their personal interests, causing a delay in presenting the Act.
