Kathmandu, June 9 :
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha has urged those protesting the naming of Koshi Province to go peacefully and in line with the constitution and democracy.
The DPM responded in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives to the protest carried out by lawmakers over the ‘attack’ on CPN (UML)’s central member and Koshi Province Assembly’s UML parliamentary party deputy leader Ram Bahadur Rana at Chisapani in Ilam on Thursday.
The state cannot accept unconstitutional, anarchic, chaotic and destructive activities, he said.
On the matter, he said he held discussions with the UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, other leaders, Rana himself and Deputy Speaker of Koshi Province Sirjana Danuwar. The Nepal Police has launched investigations to bring culprits to justice, he said.
Stating that the protest should be carried out peacefully, he suggested the resolution of the political problem through talks.
DPM and Home Minister said the government was committed to take action against those involved in hurling stones during the visit of UML chair Oli to Jhapa and ensuring security of ministers of the provincial government, and lawmakers.
