National Ballet of China holds assessment performance for top ballet dancers

The annual assessment of dancers at the National Ballet of China, the country’s top ballet troupe, was held at the Beijing Tianqiao Theater on Friday and Saturday night.

As a world-class art troupe, the National Ballet of China has a strict and rigorous promotion system, so the annual assessment was a big event for dancers. Starting from 2012, the assessment was transformed into a performance before a live audience.

“The assessment is a comprehensive event for training and improvement for the performers in terms of technology and artistry. Dancers can choose broader roles and repertoires to show their abilities at different levels to the troupe and the audience, and continue to gain the attention and support of friends who love ballet and art,” said director Feng Ying.

Over 50 dancers from the troupe shared the stage to present nearly 30 performances during the two nights.
