Chinese ambassador calls on DPM Shrestha, applauds Nepal’s support to one-China policy

Kathmandu, May 8 :

China’s ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, today paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

In the meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister said, “Nepal and China have historic ties and Nepal is committed not to allowing its territory to be used against any anti-China affairs.” He reiterated Nepal’s committed to a one China policy.

He also utilised the meeting to call on the Chinese side for the implementation of the agreement on mutual legal assistance. He also underlined the need of regularizing the meeting between district security bodies along the Nepal-China border and enhancing the community and coordination between border security forces of two neighbours.

Reminding of the past provision that gave authority to the Chief District Officer to provide the entry pass for the people residing along the border areas for the convenience of their lives, the Minister urged the Chinese side to resume the provision.

Expressing happiness over the decision to re-open Tatopani, Rasuwa and Hilsa transit points, the Deputy Prime Minister urged Chinese for taking initiation to resuming the remaining transits: Saipal in Bajhang, Tinker of Darchula, Ruila of Gorkha and in Nakche in Mugu.

In response, the Chinese Ambassador said he was agreed on the proposals to intensify the communication system between the border security officials and regularizing the meeting, thanking Nepal for its continuous support to the one-China policy. As he said, Nepal-China relations have taken a new height with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s 2019 Nepal visit and other high-level visits held thereafter.

The Chinese envoy also applauded the Nepal’s home administration for its role for not allowing any anti-China activities in Nepal and protecting the Chinese investment and property here.

Chinese Ambassador calls on Vice President Yadav

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav.

In the meeting held today at the Vice President’s office in Lainchaur, various issues concerning bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, according to the Secretariat of the Vice President.
