Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Jivan Ram Shrestha, has said Newa culture and heritage should be conserved for attracting tourists.
At a programme organized by the umbrella organization of Newar community, the Newa Dabu, here Wednesday, he shared that a heritage trail would be set up from Hanuman Dhoka to Swyambhu Durbar area. It is 2.2km long.
The ministry has kept in priority the tangible and intangible cultural heritages of the Kathmandu Valley, he said, adding that even the promotion of night time tourism was being mulled.
Similarly, Minister Shrestha pledged assistance for the establishment of Shankhdhar Sakhwa National Award. “I’m effortful to conserve the art, culture and heritages of Kathmandu and identify the areas from where the local youths could make earning,” he added.
On the occasion, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, viewed he had also forwarded the proposal of ‘autonomous area’, ‘protected area’, and ‘special area’ as envisioned by the constitution.
Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, said they were preparing child-friendly audiovisual educational materials in mother languages.
Patron of Newa Dabu, Malla K Sundar, suggested the Dabu to make its district chapter strong.
