Orphanage gets Rs 100 thousands in charity   

Kathmandu, Aug 22 :

An orphanage run by the Tualasadevi Harihar Foundation in Changunarayan municipality-4 in Bhaktapur has received Rs 100 thousands in charity.
Woman entrepreneur Sabita Dhungana donated the monetary assistance to the home (Tulasalaya Ashram) amidst a programme here Sunday. On the occasion, Dhungana who also owns an identity of philanthropist announced to assist lifetime Rs 100 thousands each year to the Ashram.
She handed a cheque of the assistance amount to Foundation’s chair Saru Subedi on the occasion.
As shared by Dhungana, she came to know that Ashram serves as a shelter for orphans, children with disabilities, helpless senior citizens and those with mental illness through social media and it encouraged her to joining her hands with the organisation for philanthropic works. The orphanage provides care and education for orphans, helpless children and senior citizens, and persons with disabilities and mental illness by keeping in Changunarayan and Nakkhu of Lalitpur metropolis-25, it is said
According to Subedi, 26 children residing in the Asharm are school goers and 44 of different age groups are dependent on its care and protection and some of those rescued from vulnerable conditions were rehabilitated.
Subedi asserted that the State should take the responsibility of protecting and taking care of helpless citizens who are neglected, in the street, deprived of protection and care and are in vulnerable situations. She complained that they were not getting any sort of monetary assistance from the government and it has posed a challenge for the sustainability of charity works.
The Ashram is presently home to eight-month-old Stuti who was born as the seventh daughter to a woman from Humla and lost her mother shortly after birth to 64-year-old Dr Bhagawan Shrestha who had served in the government service for 28 years as a medical doctor.
