China launches tests of self-driving high-speed trains

On Thursday, China Railway Corporation started tests of self-driving trains on a section of the Beijing-Shenyang high-speed railway, marking a major breakthrough by China in autonomous train technology.

According to staff at China Railway Corporation, data from the tests will allow engineers to fine tune the development of automated driving activities including automatic stopping, starting, and running between stations.

The current series of tests will run until late September.
