The annual capacity of Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai has surpassed the 750,000 mark as of the second quarter of 2022, more than the 650,000 capacity of factory in California and 250,000 capacity of factory in Germany, topping Tesla’s worldwide factory output chart, the US electric car maker’s quarterly disclosure released on Wednesday showed.
Tesla China delivered 78,900 vehicles in June 2022 making a new historic high, data from China Passenger Car Association showed. In the first half of 2022, Tesla China delivered a total of 295,000 vehicles to its consumers.
The Gigafactory in Shanghai was the first sole proprietorship vehicle manufacturing plant in China, starting construction in January 2019 and entering operation in December. The annual delivery volume of Shanghai Gigafactory reached 484,130 in 2021, up 235 percent year-on-year, accounting 51.7 percent of Tesla’s global capacity.
