The Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border will allow for two-way trading between Nepal and China.
China agreed to import and export products over the Nepal-China border in accordance with health standards at the consultation meeting on that border.
Due to COVID-19, China had temporarily shut down the checkpoint. Even after the border checkpoint opened, China continued to deliver a small number of items to Nepal on its own.
Nepal and China have also decided to establish an epidemic prevention and control framework for carrying out trading, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the meeting.
The Chinese team was led by Hong Liang, Director General, Department of Border and Maritime Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Nepali delegation was led by Lok Bahadur Thapa, Chief of Northeast Asia Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two parties also agreed to establish the Hilsa-Purang border port in Humla.
