Kathmandu, June 20
A letter has been sent to the Chief Minister of Karnali Pradesh by the Karnali Pradesh Joint
Campaign Network Against Child Marriage. On Monday, a group of 23 groups working in the
subject of children presented Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi with a 10-point letter.
The demand letter calls for the creation of a strategy to eliminate child marriage, as well as for the state government to develop a local strategy to end child marriage.
All of the state’s municipalities have been encouraged to investigate and analyze the situation of child marriage, develop a system for continuous updating of statistics, improve the effectiveness of child marriage policy implementation, and simplify the complaint process in collaboration with the police office and local level.
