Kathmandu, June 17
The House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Thursday passed the proposal to consider
Finance Bill 2022; Bill Designed to Recover Public Debt 2022 and Bill on Debts and Surety (25th amendment) by a majority of votes.
Finance Minister Janardan Sharma presented a proposal in the HoR meeting seeking
consideration on the bills.
Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has slated the date for June 20 for clause-wise discussions on the Finance Bill 2022.
Likewise, responding to lawmakers’ concerns in the HoR meeting on the Bill Designed to
Recover Public Debt 2022, Finance Minister Sharma said debts would be collected only if
necessary.
In response to propelling capital expenditure, Minister Sharma informed the House that some laws should be amended and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has stepped up the needed process for this issue.
Minister Sharma also argued that production should be encouraged by discouraging loans.
“Credit should be accepted on the basis of the project. Serious discussions have been held in a way to accept loans only in case the projects could repay it,” he added.
