Announcement of a merger between Global IME and Bank of Kathmandu, to become the largest bank in the country

Kathmandu, June 16

The Global IME Bank and the Bank of Kathmandu are planning to merge. On Thursday, the two banks announced their merger by signing a deal at the Hotel Yak & Yeti in the capital. At the same time, Global IME Bank will maintain its position as the world’s largest bank. After the merger, the bank’s total capital will be 52.29 billion, including 34.41 billion in paid-up capital.

Nepal Investment Bank and Mega Bank, which are going to merge, would be the first
commercial banks in Nepal to have a paid-up capital of Rs 32.59 billion.

Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Chairman of Global IME Bank, and Prakash Shrestha, Chairman of Bank of Kathmandu Limited, signed the MoU.

Global IME BOK Limited will be the name of the new bank that will emerge from the merger of the two banks, which have agreed to combine in a 1: 1 swap ratio.
