Kathmandu, June 15
The Nepali Congress’ Gagan Thapa has demanded a response from Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on the United States’ proposed State Partnership Program (SPP).
He stated the prime minister should answer to the parliament regarding the alleged SPP deal with the United States when speaking in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
He stated that the SPP was unconstitutional, claiming that Nepal should not join in any program affecting the strategic interests of any nation. ”We have to collaborate with all the great nations,” he stated. Nepal, on the other hand, is not permitted to participate in any military-related programs.”
He requested that the Prime Minister appear in front of the House of Commons and declare
that there is no SPP agreement and that we would not participate.
