He was arrested on charges of abusing and critically wounding his wife, Sakuntala Thakuri.
Sakuntala was the target of an attack in February of 2022.

After being arrested by the police at the time, Thakuri was diagnosed with corona infection.
Due to a corona infection, he was released on bail on January 18 with the condition that he be presented later.

The police took defendant Thakuri to Biratnagar on Thursday to appear in court. He was taken to Koshi Hospital and died as a result of his injuries.

Relatives claim he died as a result of a police beating. ”It’s possible that the man who was brought home safely was beaten to death by the police,” he said.
He asked that the state compensate the deceased’s family because he died while under the state’s control.
