Finance Minister Sharma is ready to build Nijgadh Airport

Kathmandu, June 4

The development of Nijgadh International Airport will begin this year, according to Finance
Minister Janardhan Sharma.

Minister Sharma expressed his determination to begin construction of Nijgadh Airport this year at the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s 46th general meeting on Saturday.

”Nijgadh Airport will be built, started, and completed this year. I am willing to go to any extent for this. Janardhan Sharma has made a commitment to this. ”This is the current Sher Bahadur Deuba government’s promise,” he remarked.

The Supreme Court recently rejected all of the government’s decisions regarding the
construction of Nijgadh Airport and ruled that if the airport should be built, alternatives be
investigated. The complete text of the judgment, however, has not been made public, and
Finance Minister Sharma has stated that Nijgadh Airport would be built.

The operation of the Birgunj Sugar Mill was included in the budget, according to Finance
Minister Sharma, and he urged people not to take it lightly. According to him, the government is prepared to run the sugar mill based on the conclusions of a research that took place during the last 5-7 months.

Minister Sharma highlighted the importance of businesses in the Birgunj region supporting in encouraging farmers to operate sugar mills and enhancing raw material availability.

Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini, speaking at the event, stated that the Birgunj region has become a lifeline for industry and trade.
